Club Ethos
Our club ethos dictates that Tramore AFC is open to all boys/girls living in the Tramore are aged between 5-18 years of age irrespective of creed or race! The development of our schoolboy/schoolgirl players is the single most important sector of Tramore AFC. The ethos of the club has always been to encourage all our teams (juveniles/juniors) to play open, attractive football and to enjoy playing it, with the development of the player being of paramount importance.
Coaching and developing our young players is more important than acquiring silverware. Whilst we have won numerous trophies over the years pride of place goes to all the players who have played at County, Provincial and International level.
We are extremely proud of the players fortunate to have won International Caps.
Our club ethos for underage football deems the development of our players outweighing anything else, and in particular, outweighs the winning of schoolboy/schoolgirl trophies.
This prevailing attitude has meant that Tramore AFC is quite rightly recognised as one of the largest footballing nurseries in the South East.
The club in essence has always encouraged our better players to play for Waterford United. Numerous top class and well coached Tramore players have gone to play for Waterford and other Eircom League teams and as a direct result of our underage ethos, most of these players are very much at large at the higher level.
Jim Goodwin is our only Senior Internationally capped player and is currently plying his trade with much distinction for Scunthorpe United in the Championship.
Further on under-age football, it has to be acknowledged that we have been very fortunate with the numerous individuals who have been responsible for carrying out our ‘Ethos' over the years. Furthemore all our various managers are encouraged to carry out another important part of the clubs ethos, namely, to show respect to their opponents and match officials. In other words discipline if of vital importance and is drilled into all our players both at underage and junior level.
A disciplinary committee is in place to deal with any breach of club discipline. A code of ethics for all players and manages (and indeed parents) is also strictly adhered to.
Our ethos on how football should be played in the field runs parallel with our progressive attitude off the pitch, particularly in relation to the ongoing development at Graun Park. Facilities are continually being upgraded in order to compliment Tramore AFC's coaching programme. Progression and resilience are very much part of the clubs psyche!
