On Friday 5th August we at Tramore AFC had a celebration night to celebrate our recent success in the FAI AVIVA club of the year awards. This gave us a chance to share this award with the members of the club but also the community of Tramore and all partnering organisations. To our delight there was a fantastic turn out on the night and the feedback from people is that everyone had a great time. Our proceedings got under way with a BBQ by Molloys and small sided blitz's involving all our underage players while Owen Kavanagh supplied the sounds on the night. Mark Russell of AVIVA brought along their 3D experience truck and it was thoroughly enjoyed by all, young and old and a big thanks to them for coming along and supporting our night. There were many representatives from many different organisations present including the Waterford junior & schoolboy league, referees committee and Waterford United. There was also a strong FAI presence on the night with Aisling Delaney, Paul Cleary, Gary Power and Alan Reynolds in attendance. Many thanks again to so many for attending our celebration night.

Moving through the night we also seen our under 17's put through their paces in a training session and also sandwiches & cakes were in plentiful supply thanks to many helping ladies who are always supportive of the club any time they are asked. On a local scale there were representatives from most sporting clubs in Tramore, Tramore CBS, local politicians and the Mayor of Tramore Maxine Keoghan who spoke so highly of the club stating how proud she was of our proactive work in the community. Before our chairman spoke to thank everybody for coming to this night of celebration we had the raffle for our upcoming tickets for the Ireland friendly versus Croatia. Well done to Marian Cunningham whose name was pulled out of the hat for Wednesdays friendly.

Pat O'Rieley introduced our speakers (mayor Maxine Keoghan, Willie Callaghan, Mark Russell) before our club chairman John Power acknowledged everybody on their work that helped make Tramore AFC the FAI AVIVA club of the year 2011. This award was not won by just Tramore AFC but the community of Tramore and anybody that has interacted with Tramore AFC over our 59 year history. We pride ourselves in the work we have done both on and off the field and aim to build on this success in years to come. After John concluded his speech, Dooleys chips arrived and there was no sign of full bellies as the chips and sausages were snapped up in minutes.

There was also a great media presence on the night including fellow winner in Ennis Noel Browne who won the FAI photographer of the year award. Tramore Community Radio was heavily involved on the night and on Saturday night had an hour long program with Paul Power talking about our achievement. This show also included interviews from the night with senior and junior members of the club and community laying tribute to this great success. WLR FM and the local papers were also on hand on the night.

Tramore AFC would like to thank everybody for coming along on the night and hope that everyone had a great time. Our gates are always open and with a new season fast approaching we hope to see many of you back either playing or supporting our 27 teams that will be entered in various leagues this coming season.
