Weekend Review

Munster Cup Last 16 - Tramore 4-0 St Brendans Park

After last weeks disappointment, the lads made sure no such slip up was made in reaching the quarter finals of the munster cup with a fine win over St Brendans Park of Tralee. A tense opening period was soon forgot as Stephen Grant smashed home a strike from outside the box to make it 1-0. Coggs Quilty then made it 2-0 before the break with a fine run and finish. We took control in the second half and tested the opposition goal on many occasions, none more so than Lee Russell rattling the bar with an effort from 25 yards. We were rewarded with a third when Stephen Grant directed a header into the net and Lee Quilty rounded off the scoring with a neat finish into the top corner. We will now have a home draw in the quarter finals and hope that the continued support from all of Tramore will be present to cheer on the team.

Schoolboy result -

  • U11A Villa 3-0 Tramore
  • U11B Balinroad 5-0 Tramore
  • U11C Southend 2-3 Tramore
  • U13B Seaview 4-1 Tramore
  • U15A Ferrybank 0-1 Tramore
  • U15B Tramore 2-3 Johnville

Div 4 - Bohs 2-0 Tramore

Not the result we wanted as Bohs put in a good performance and made it hard for us to break them down. An early goal and one at the death were the difference on the day.

Flag Weekend

Many thanks to all club members who helped us with the club collection last Saturday at the various locations around Tramore. However a bigger thanks must go to the people of Tramore who supported us as without this support we would not be able to be in the position we are today. Tramore AFC has grown and grown since our formation and as we now move into our 60th year of existence we are happy that we have a club that offers something to all within our town.

Seagulls

Great to see Derrick Williams home last weekend from Aston Villa and making a couple of appearances at Graun Park on Saturday and Sunday. Derrick is really enjoying his time learning his trade at Aston Villa and all at Tramore AFC wish him continued success. Also great to see Jim Goodwin signing a new contract at St Mirren. Jim is really enjoying his football at St Mirren and long may  it continue.

Peno defeat in FAI

Tramore AFC lost out to Carndonagh FC on penalties in the last 16 of Ireland yesterday. We will be extremely disappointed to lose but this will no doubt add a certain level of motivation towards the next game (a huge last 16 munster cup game).

Trap in Tramore AFC

Last friday, Tramore AFC hosted Irish senior manager Giovanni Trapattoni as he announced his latest squad in Waterford. This was a fantastic day for the club and everyone involved with it. Tramoreafc.com will soon create a page with information and pictures from the day so keep posted here.

Weekend Preview

This coming Sunday sees Graun Park host a last 16 Fai junior cup tie for the first time in a long time. WE will play hosts to Carndonagh AFC with a 1pm kick off. This is a huge game for the lads and we hope that all of Tramore will get behind them by showing their support on the day. Elsewhere their are schoolboy games saturday as well as the Div 3 lads looking to continue their unbeaten run against Dunmore and a 1A game at home to St Josephs.

Weekend Review

A weekend gone by where there wasnt too much to shout about for Tramore AFC including postponments of nearly half our fixtures. All three under 11 sidea suffered defeat although all squads are vastly improving each week as they prepare for full 11 a side football next season. U13B side were beat in Portlaw after two big home wins recently they could not keep this run going. Both 15 games were called off due to a school tour where most our players were in Italy. Both youth sides suffered defeat also, U17 going down to DLS 2-0 and the U19 losing to Bohs 5-3 although competed for the majority of the game. The only other game was the Ladies side playing down in Adamstown and coming away with an 11-2 victory. Other games seen postponed were our premier fixture in Ferrybank, our 1A game in Kilmac and the Div 4 fixture versus Villa.

Weekend Review

Premier League - Tramore 3-2 Hibs

Back in league action after two away trips in the cups we were made to work hard for this victory that keeps us clear at the top of the table. We went down to 10 men in the first half when keeper Andrew Halligan was adjudged to have brought down a hibs player and they duly converted the spot kick past replacement keeper Mark O'Rieley. In the second half the lads showed great character to get back in the game and it was Paul Quilty who made the breakthrough following a Lee Quilty corner. Chris Grace then made an impact in the next two goals following his introduction from the break, firstly setting up Stephen Grant for the equiliser and then winning the penalty for Lee Quilty to strike home. A trip to Ferrybank awaits next Saturday night where the lads will try to maintain their 100% record so far.

Division 3 - Bolton 1-2 Tramore

Another tricky game for the lads but they came away with three points making sure their firm grip on top of the table stays intact. Dean Noblett won a penalty after 2 minutes which John Kelly converted before Stephen Reville knocked home from close range to make it 2-0. Bolton applied plenty of pressure in the second half and were rewarded when keeper Kevin McCarten got his angles wrong and let a free kick slip inside his near post.

Division 4 - Tramore 1-0 Waterford Crystal

Missing a few players the older lads managed to bounce back from their recent defeat in Portlaw to secure victory here at home to Waterford Crystal. A headed goal from Barry Herterich was the difference on the day and the lads secured a very welcome 3 points.

25/1/12

FAI Cup

Tramore will host Carndonagh FC of Donegal in the 7th round of the FAI junior cup for 2011/12. The last 16 clash will see both sides go head to head at Graun Park for a place in the Quarters of the competition. The game has a 1pm kick off and all support is greatly appreciated on the day. There are no games within the club clashing so it will give all our members a chance to shout on the Seagulls !

Weekend Review

U11A - Tramore 2-4 Ferrybank

U11B - Tramore 0-2 Villa

U11C - Tramore 4-0 Southend

U13A - Villa 4-1 Tramore

U15A - Tramore 1-1 Balinroad

U15B - Tramore 1-1 Portlaw

U18 FAI Cup - Wexford Youths 3-1 Tramore

Despite the result the lads cannot have too much complaints about this game. Down to 10 men in the first half we battled back to 1-1 and had a big penalty shout go against us and with three minutes to go the league of Ireland outfit scored twice to win the game. Credit to the lads for putting in such an effort and also many thanks to all who travelled to support the lads.

Munster Junior Cup - Bunratty 0-1 Tramore

The second away spin in as many weeks for us but victory in both has secured us home ties in the next rounds which is a huge boost to us. Playing in tough conditions it wasn't until the second half when the only goal of the game came through Stephen Grant. Again many thanks to all who travelled on the day to support us.

Div 4 - Portlaw 1-0 Tramore

Not the result we were looking for here, missing a few players but still no excuse. Kav and the lads will now be looking at Waterford Crystal at home to ensure they keep pace with the front runners in the league.

Div 3 - Tramore 2-1 Villa

Still unbeaten but this game will stretch the squad after we picked up a few knock here, Coleman Gillane coming off worst of all after doing ligaments in his ankle. Hopefully he will be back playing sooner rather than later. Going one behind it took goals from Lee Murray and Dean Noblett to take the lead. A special mention to Brendan Kelly just back from suspension who had a solid game at the heart of the defence.

Weekend Review

U12A - Carrick 2-1 Tramore

The lad will be disappointed to come away from this game with nothing as they had the majority of the possession but could not find the goals. We are playing some good football at the moment and still learning as a team in our first year of 11 a side football. Goalscorer on the day was the ever impressive Tom Carney.

U16A - Tramore 2-1 Ferrybank

We maintained our hold on top of the 16A league with this win and are showing great confidence that we can push on in our remaining games. After going behind it took goals from James Brown and Meschac Babatu to secure victory here. We would like to wish u16 player Shane Dineen all the best as he prepare to fly out to Celtic in the coming weeks. Shane who does not play for us is always a tough opponent and is definetly deserving of his chance across the water.

Div 1A - St Josephs 3-1 Tramore

In tough conditions we could not come away with a positive result here but credit to the lads as they gave it a good go. Playing against a strong breeze in the second half meant we struggled to take the game into their half of the pitch therefore being unable to stay in the game. William Cullinane was the scorer on the day.

Div 3 - Tramore 2-1 DLS

Sometimes in leagues it is important to win ugly and this was certainly one of those days. Still unbeaten this season the lads are showing great character week in week out but just secured victory against a spirited DLS side in the final minutes. After going one behind we found a goal through Lee Murray although some might say the final touch was off another player. Sub Eoin Flynn then found himself one on one with the keeper in the dying minutes and showed some great composure to slot the ball home and secure the win.

U19 - Villa 6-2 Tramore

We should be disappointed here as we were well in this game and matched this villa side throughout only to ship some soft goals in the end. Eoin Nolan produced some great set plays to have us 2-1 ahead with goals from Ryan Daniels and Jamie Hunt but in the end it wasn't enough in a game we left behind us. Most of this squad will now play Wexford Youths in the FAI U18 cup this Friday and we hope we can produce a positive result here.

FAI Junior Cup - Willow Park 1-1 Tramore (Tramore win on pens)

Another win for our senior side, albeit by penalties but it secured our place in the next round of the cup and a home tie. We found it hard at time to play football on the pitch but showed that we have a side that can match teams in different conditions. Robbie Phelan had us ahead but the pulled level and from then on in the game became tight and both sides could not find that winning goal. In the end penalties were needed. Goals from Paul Quilty, Leigh Quilty, Lee Russell, Kevin Walsh and Leo Jaques meant that when Craig (Rocky) Mahar stepped up it was to send us through. Rocky slotted the ball home to make sure Tramore AFC were in the next round of the Junior Cup. The lads now travel away to Bunratty next Sunday with a 12:30 kick off in the munster cup.

Club Mass

On Thursday 2nd Feb the club will hold its annual mass to remember deceased members of the club. This is something that we as a club do each year and everyone in invited to it. The mass will commence at 8pm and will be held by Monsenior Shine who always looks forward to helping the club out in any way he can.

Weekend Review

U11A - Ferrybank 2-0 Tramore

U11B - Tramore 1-4 Mooncoin

U11C - Ferrybank 4-0 Tramore

U13A - Tramore 1-6 Dungarvan

A bad result for the lads here after competing with Dungarvan for so long. However to Dungarvans credit they did up their game to a level which we will aim to reach for the rest of the season and most definetly next season. These are still young kids and still learning the game so they should not be disheartened by results that do not go their way, as their is huge potential within this squad. Back training now after the Christmas break, our next game is in the Villa in 2 weeks.

U13B - Piltown 1-3 Tramore

Our lads had  to work extremely hard to gain victory over a very determined home side, we started very positive and got rewarded after 15mins with a goal, this seemed to unsettle piltown as straight from their centre off a great piece of individual pressure won us the ball it was then passed quickly between 3 tramore players before ending in the net 2up.piltown never gave up and got rewarded before halftime,2nd half we soaked up a lot of pressure with outstanding defence work and good goalkeeping, and this teamwork led to some great attacks on the break by our lads, getting a deserved 3rd goal to take the points. with no subs to relieve tired legs and two u12s making up our starting 11 these lads worked their socks off, keep up the work lads well done.

U15B - Tramore 0-5 Ballyduff

Prem - Bohs 0-1 Tramore

In our first league fixture for a while we were able to earn three points thanks to an early own goal however the scoreline may have been more but for some great saves from the opposition goalkeeper. Bohs were also reduced to 9 men as the game progressed and this did not help them in their search for an equaliser. We must make sure that our focus on the league does not drop as we still compete on all fronts. This coming Sunday we travel to Athlone to play Willow Park in the FAI Cup.

U17 - Villa 3-3 Tramore

A good point here but the lads may feel they could have taken something more from the game in the end. Missing some players the lads adjusted well and a solid midfield performance from Niall Kennedy, Aaron Coad and Jamie Hunt were central to us getting a result, the latter scoring two of our goals with the other one being an own goal.

U19 - Southend 7-0 Tramore

Beating here by a stronger Southend side here which we can have no complaints about. However due to some players missing we had a very patched up side. There are some very good players in this squad that will no doubt give their all not matter what game they play in which is great to see.

Div 1A - Grannagh 1-2 Tramore

In a game where we could have been leading comfortably at half time we found ourselves behind but did show some great character to get back into the game. Goals on the day coming from Keith Worley and Dean Noblett. Dean here definetly showing he can play at a higher level. St Josephs this week where we will try to maintain this performance.

Div 3 - Tramore 4-1 Balinroad

Another three points here puts us back to the summit of the table after an impressive showing against Balinroad on Sunday last. It took only 44 seconds to get on the scoresheet, David Howlett forcing their keeper into a great save from 35 yards, we scored from the resulting corner through Lee Murray. Chris Dunne was then brought down in the box but Dean Noblett hit the post with the spot kick. This however did not phase the lad as he went on to bag himself a hat trick in the second half. Having a solid game at the back, Alan Fleming then decided to give away a penalty to allow Balinroad a consolation. Himself and John Kelly were solid for the whole game. Also good to see David O'Mahony back from a serious injury although will need a couple of weeks to find his form.

€2000 Raised for Charity

On Friday 30th December, Tramore AFC hosted a charity blitz for the Iriish Heart Foundation. A total of 18 teams entered the competition and a fantastic day was had by all. Niall Kennedy's team Kendos Boys were the worthy winners on the day but it was brilliant that we as a club could donate €2000 to the Irish Heart Foundation. Alan Corcoran, a former player is set to run 35 consecutive marathons around Ireland to raise fund for this charity and this was organised to help him with his fundraising drive. Well done to everyone who contributed on the day - Competition Organisers, Referees, Prize givers, Players and fans.

The teams are in and the draw is just about finalised. From Monday the full draw and times of all fixtures will be posted here so that teams can prepare their day in advance. Williams Rewarded

Seagull Derrick Williams has been rewarded for all his hard work with Aston Villa by being named on the substitutes bench for their crucial game versus Arsenal. Derrick has been making great progress with Villa since his switch 2 years ago and has starred in many youth fixtures and reserves team games. He has been named in squads already this season but failed to make the final 18 and recently was in the Star Paper as 'One to Watch'. All at Tramore AFC are delighted to see Derrick making such good progress. Keep touch here and to the Aston Villa website for more info on his progress.

Charity Blitz deadline extended

The deadline for the charity blitz has been extended to FRIDAY at 6pm. So far there has been a great response and we are hoping that these extra 48 hours will give people time to organise their teams and get them entered. This is all in aid of Alan Corcoran and his huge task of running 35 consecutive marathons for the Irish Heart Foundation.

Weekend Review

Weekend Postponements

Due to the cold weather over the weekend all our schoolboy teams fixtures were called off late Friday evening. Our div 1A side also fell foul to the weather with Villa's pitch unplayable after an early pitch inspection Sunday morning. All games won't resume now until the new year.

Div 4 - Kilmacthomas 1-1 Tramore

On a bitterly cold day, our experienced lads were rewarded with a trip to a Alaska Park, a venue which can be even cold during the summer! We fell behind in this game but nicked a point right at the death, a John Murphy penalty earning us a point.

Munster Cup - Tramore 4-0 Balinroad

This game was put to bed early on after an impressive goal rout by the prolific Paul 'Coggs' Quilty. By half time he was withdrawn after putting away all four of the goals, the last a little fortunate after a great header by Chris Grace. The lads have now booked their spot in the next round and face an away trip to Bunratty.

Happy Christmas from Tramore AFC

All at Tramore AFC would like to wish all its players, coaches, volunteers, members and all concerned with the club a Safe and Happy Christmas and a happy new year. 2011 has been a wonderful year for the club and we are so delighted to share this with everyone involved.

All schoolboy training will cease on Wednesday 21st December and not commence until Monday 9th January. However there will be fun blitz for the kids the first week of 2012. Jim Goodwin

Great to see Jim Goodwin getting on the scoresheet on Saturday just past, earning his side St Mirren a point away at Motherwell. Keep up the hard work Jim !

Radio Interview

Following winning FAI AVIVA Club of the Year 2011 the club held a night of cel;ebration at Graun Park on Friday August 5th. This was a hugely successful night and a great time was had by all. There was also a presence on the night from many different foirms of the media. TCRfm were one of those and conducted some interviews on the night. The following day Paul Power (Witchie) was invited to the station to do an hour long program to talk about this award. Weekend Review

U11A - Tramore 1-5 Southend

U11B - Tramore 1-1 Kilmacthomas

U11C - Carrick 1-1 Tramore

U13A - Tramore 0-1 Villa

U15B - Ballyduff 4-1 Tramore

The learning curve continued for our schoolboy sides last weekend as unfortunetly none of our sides could record a victory. Our under 11 sides are showing some very good promise although our under 13 lads will be slightly disappointed they could not perform as well as usually to take some points from the Villa. All sides will continue to train hard over the coming weeks to ensure they will be well prepared for the second half of the season.

FAI Junior Cup - Tramore 3-1 Ballina

The long trip from Mayo was made by our opponents last weekend with the intentions of having their name in the hat for the next stage of the junior cup. However our lads had different ideas and we were pleased to come out on top at the final whistle. We were a little bit fortunate not to be behind early on when a free kick flew straight in only to be deemed offside. Ballina made it difficult for us to play the kind of football that we have been in recent weeks but we were soon to break the deadlock. A left footed cross from Fran Rockett was nodded down by Stephen Grant before Robbie Phelan applied the finishing touch. Franny again played a part in our second goal, setting up Grant to make it 2-0. Ballina sensed a comeback when they got a goal on the board but hopes were dashed when they were reduced to 10 men and Coggs was left with an easy finish to secure victory after some neat footwork by Robbie Phelan. Well done lads on the win and keep up the hard work as we face Balinroad this Saturday under the lights in the Munster Cup.

Ladies Wexford Prem League - Benfica 1-3 Tramore

Our senior ladies suffered their first defeat of the season last week but spent no time waiting around to get back on track. The girls were impressive throughout this game and were fully focused on the three points and we start to move to the business end of the season.

Charity Football Competition

In aid of the Heart Foundation, Tramore AFC will host a charity football competition on Friday, December 30th starting from 2pm. Entry is open now to Men and Women over 16 and registration forms are available to download from our website or you can call into us at Graun Park for more info.

From 9:30 - 11:30 each morning the 2002/03/04 kids will come in and from 11:45 - 1:45 kids born in 2001/00/99 will play. Cost for the three days is €10 or else €4 a day. Tramore AFC would like to thanks the parents and kids for their enthusiasm shown so far this season and we would like to wish you all a safe and happy christmas period !

Emerging Talent

Well done to Alan Curran and Matthew Connor on being selcted from their regional emerging talent group to train with the current Irish U15 squad. Both lads have been performing extremely well for their club this season and this is a welcome call for both players. Well done lads, keep up the hard work.

Weekend Results

Under 12A - Tramore 6-1 Bohs

A great win for our under 12 A lads last Saturday morning in Graun Park. Missing captain Jack Larkin on the day, the lads really showed their strength in depth to record another fine win in their debut season in schoolboy football. Luke O'Neill got the ball rolling with a first half hat-trick which was followed up by a fine strike from the ever impressive Darryl Walsh and late strikes from substitutes Aaron Cashin and Mickey Brennan. Well done lads, keep up the good work.

Under 14 - Southend 0-1 Tramore

A fine away win for David Sheppard's side as they were on the right side of a 1-0 win in Southend on Saturday last. With numbers in training on the increase there is no reason why these lads cannot make a late surge towards the right end of the table. Goal on the day coming from kennedy cup squad player Sam Sheppard.

Under 16A - Tramore 5-1 Villa

Our 16A side made it a clean sweep for our schoolboys on Saturday last. Missing some players in key defensive positions the lads who filled in must be credited for such a commanding performance. Meschac contributed 2 on the day with the other goals coming from Aaron Coad, David Rosario and James Browne.

FAI Youth Cup - Dungarvan 3-5 Tramore

Tramore advanced to the last 32 of the competition with a fine win over the side who beat us recently in the Munster Cup by the same scoreline. We knew that we let the previous game slip and were in Kilrush Park to make amends. Liam O'Farrell opened the scoring after 2 minutes after a great delivery from Stephen Coffey. Liam doubled our lead after some neat work by Jamie Hunt to create the chance. Sam Lenihan scored our third to make it 3-1 at half time, his second career goal but is always dependable in the back line. Dungarvan made it a nervy second half twice responding to cut the deficit but second half goals from Sami and Coffo secured the win and we now await our opponents in the next round. Many thanks to all who helped on the day with transport.

Club Notes

FIFA 12 competition

Last Friday we held a second FIFA 12 night at Graun Park, again with over 30 entrants. The main feature this time was the projector screen supplied by Brendan Kelly so we could have games such a huge screen. Last time winner Gary Hunt was eventually tumbled by nephew Jamie who just fell short in the final. The winner on the night was Stephen Lenihan who put in some solid displays throughout and even had to deal with some heckling from opposing fans! Well done to all who played on the night and even chairman John Power (who does not understand the concept of computer gaming) had a great night mixing with all the younger members of the club.

Christmas Lights in Tramore

This Thursday in Tramore will be the official switching on of the lights in our Main Street and to mark the occasion, the town is putting on a fun night for all the family. Tramore AFC will be getting involved and ask all players, kids, parents etc to be at the credit union for 6pm sharp. Wear your club gear if possible.

Three

Tramore AFC currently are part of the Dare to Dream initiative from the FAI and Three (Mobile Network Provider). Anyone who changes phones or network to three can earn the club money through this scheme. Its easy, all you have to do is mention Tramore AFC when instore. Many thanks to anyone who so far has contributed to this for the club.

Charity Football Competition

In aid of the Heart Foundation through former player Alan Corcoran, the club will  be running a Charity Football competition on Friday 30th December. Alan is running 35 consecutive marathons around Ireland and we hope to help him with his fundraising by having this competition. Check our facebook and website this week for more information or call into us at the club. More details will be posted here next week also.

Weekend Review

U11A - Carrick 1-0 Tramore

U11C - Tramore 2-1 Bohs

A mixed set of results for our under 11 squads as we picked up a win and a loss. The A squad were missing their impressive keeper but Eoin Hayes played a great game between the sticks and was unfortunate to concede. As always it is the development of the players that is the important thing here and not the results.

U13A - Balinroad 1-2 Tramore

U13B - Park Rangers 1-0 Tramore

Our 13A lads recorded a good win in Balinroad on Saturday last playing some great football throughout. If they can keep this up and take their chances then these lads will have a great squad in the coming seasons. Ben Palmer opened the scoring with a sweet strike after a brilliant through ball from Tom Carney and David McCracken won the game with a free kick from 25 yards. Our 13B squad were unlucky to lose by the single goal in Park Rangers but great to see such a big interest from all the lads.

U15A - Tramore 4-1 Southend

U15B - Tramore 1-0 Ferrybank

Two wins in Graun Park for our under 15 squads on Saturday. The early game saw 5 goals and four of those went our way with Alan Curran (2), Koffi and Jack Douglas getting on the scoresheet which makes it twos wins on the trot now for the lads. The 15B lads grinded out a good win too, getting the better of Ferrybank in the end.

FAI Junior Cup - Villa 0-4 Tramore

On a wet Saturday evening we made the trip to Villa for a tough cup game but knew we were in good form and we were impressive from the off. The in form Paul Quilty was a constant threat for Villa but could not continue his magnificent goalscoring record. However there are plenty of others in the squad who have goals in them. Francis Rockett scored two great strikes in the first half, both coming from distance. Michael Caulfield had us 3-0 up at half time before Stephen Grant finished the scoring to see us through to the next round.

Div 1A - Tramore 0-3 Abbeyside

A scoreline probably not deserved for the lads, missing a couple of key players but in football if you take your chances you will score and if you don't, you won't. It was the latter in our case last Sunday morning but did boss the game for many periods. We will be looking forward to getting back out on the pitch again soon and making up for this loss. Thanks to the couple of third division lads who came along on the day to help us out.

FIFA 12 Competition

This coming Friday there will be another FIFA 12 competition at Graun Park open to all. After the success of the last competition there was great feedback to have another competition. This time we kick off at 6PM on Friday night and players should have their name entered by 5:30pm either with Gary Hunt or leave a comment on our Facebook page. Entry on the night is €3.

Weekend Review

Weekend Results

U12A - Tramore 3-1 Ferrybank

U12B - Tramore 1-3 DLS

U16A - Balinroad 0-3 Tramore

A mixed weekend for our schoolboy teams. Some very good performances were put in and we will be hoping that we can keep up these levels of performance in games to come. All our younger members are applying themselves very well and training hard and even though this may not show on some scorelines our players are improving each week.

Munster Junior Cup - Tramore 4-0 Ferrybank

An early goal from Robbie Phelan ensured we never looked back as we kicked on to record another victory and also keep a clean sheet. The three other goals coming from Paul Quilty who made it 13 goals in 3 games, a run that would scare any upcoming back line. However we need to keep our heads screwed on as we have another tough game coming up this weekend versus a Villa in Connors Park.

Div 4 - Tramore 2-0 Johnville

After a few disappointing results of late it looked like it was to continue last Sunday morning when we squandered chance after chance against Johnville. We eventually got the opening goal in the second half, John 'Smurf' Murphy converting after some good work by John Power sporting an entertaining moustache! Credit to Johnville as they kept at it and nearly got back into the game but Michael O'Donohue eventually put the ball into the net to kill off the game. Great to see Teddy O'Connor back in Graun watching our sides in action.

Ladies Prem - Seaview (wexford) 0-4 Tramore

Our senior ladies kept up their 100% record with another convincing win against seaview of wexford on Sunday last. Goals on the day coming from Niamh Walsh (2), Orla Hickey and Vanessa Ogbonna. Well done girls keep up the hard work.

Ground Staff

All at Tramore AFC must give huge credit to our ground staff as in a weekend of many postponements we were able to put on all games scheduled to be played at graun park. This is credit to all who put in huge effort day in day out to ensure the high standards we expect of our pitches.

Performing Abroad

Great to see former Seagulls Jim Goodwin and Derrick Williams performing very well for their respective clubs, St Mirren and Aston Villa. Derrick was recently rewarded for his excellent development by being offered professional terms with his club. Keep it up guys.

FIFA 12 competition

After the success of our first competition a few weeks back we will run another FIFA 12 competition at Graun Park. This will take place on Fridy December 2nd at 6pm. Munster Cup Action

Tramore host Ferrybank tonight (18 Nov) in the second round of the munster cup after impressively seeing off Kilworth FC last week in Graun Park. This should be a more tougher test for the lads but they are aying some real good football at the moment and will no doubt be in confident mood ahead of the game. Best of luck to the lads and lets hope we can get our name in the hat for the third round.

Kick Start 2

Best of luckto any of our coaches doing their kick start 2 licence this and next weekend. This is another step in your development as a coach and it is great to have such a dedicated coaching unit in the club. Keep up the good work guys.

Poland/Ukraine here we come

Last Tuesday Ireland secured qualification to the 2012 european championships a feat that has took 24 years to replicate. We now await the draw to see which teams we will be pooled with and the prospect of drawing England is quite realisdtic. However a revenge draw against France will not be possible ue to them also being fourth seeds. Well done to the players and coaching staff of Ireland but also to everyone at the FAI who puts in huge work behind the scenes.

15/11/11

Ireland v Estonia

Ireland host Estonia at the AVIVA stadium tonight and with a 4-0 lead it is unimaginable that we will throw this away. There will be a great atmosphere there and there are many travelling from Tramore AFC. We wish all a safe journey and hope that ye all have a great day supporting the boys in green. Special mention to our winner of the AVIVA draw tickets Cian Flanagan who will no doubt really enjoy the game.

Weekend Preview

There is plenty of big games for Tramore AFC this weekend. The biggest is the Munster Junior Cup match between Tramore and Kilworth. After been postponed upon arrival 2 weeks ago, the Kilworth lads have to make the return trip to Tramore this Saturday with a 4pm kick off. A home tie to Ferrybank awaits the winners. Another big tie for the club is the U17 FAI cup away to DLS. The lads have been involved in some high scoring games so far this season and Franny Rockett will be hoping they can keep up their recent good form. Our third and fourth division teams aim to strenghten their grip on the top of their respective leagues as they travel to St Pauls (sun @ 11) and Dungarvan (sat @2) respectively. Our 1A side play Tramore Rangers and there are plenty of schoolboy action on this weekend also. Check out our schoolboy fixtures to see who plays who. Lets hope its a good weekend for the seagulls !!!

Weekend Review

Under 14 - Tramore 1-3 Ferrybank

Our under 14 lads had a big county final on the Saturday so thanks must go to Ferrybank for agreeing to a fixture change during the week. Played under the lights at Graun Park on Friday the night the lads could not produce the kind of performance to warrant a result but did display some good fighting spirit at times. Unfortunetly there were too many lapses in concentration and we could not help but be on the wrong end of a 3-1 scoreline. Scorer on the night was Charlie Kelly.

Under 16B - Tramore 1-1 Bohs

A second draw in a week for the lads after battling for a point against Villa last Monday they done the same here last Saturday against Bohs. This side are playing some good football and have some players that could definetly look at stepping up to a higher level if they keep putting in a high level of consistency in their performances.

Under 16A - Southend 0-3 Tramore

After both clubs agreed to switch this fixture it was changed back to its original date of satuday afternoon. Missing some key players and some playing through pain, Tramore managed to muster up a solid performance and run out 3-0 winners maintaining their 100% start to the season.

Div 3 - Stradbally 1-2 Tramore

On Saturday afternoon our division three side travelled to Stradbally without their centre back partnership but their replacements did not leave the management down. In fact it was central defender Coleman Gillane who was the match winner scoring both Tramore goals one either side of a Stradbally penalty after John Coady was adjudged to handball in the box. However its another win for the lads as they fast approach the half way stage of the season.

FAI Junior Cup - Tramore 7-1 Abbeyside

After going behind we showed some good character to make sure we did not leave this game behind us. Credit must go to Abbeyside as the scoreline did not replicate the effort they put into this fixture and will no doubt go close in the 1A this year if they keep playing for each other. Goalscorers on the night were Paul Quilty 4, Robbie Phelan, Colin Walsh & Stephen Grant. The lads play Kilworth at Graun Park next Saturday with a new time of 4pm.

Wexford Ladies - Ferns 2-2 Tramore

Our ladies dropped their first points of the season here last Sunday against a strong Ferns side. However they still remain unbeaten and morale in the squad is high, something which is priceless to a successful side.

Get Well Soon

All at Tramore AFC would like to wish Teddy O'Connor a speedy recovery from a recent bout of illness. Hopefully we will see Teddy back in Graun Park soon cheering on his beloved Tramore AFC.

Tramore AFC - Club Notes

U11B - Tramore 1-2 Carrick

U11C - DLS 2-0 Tramore

U13B - Tramore 4-3 Dungarvan

Only three of our schoolboy sides played last Saturday as another three were called off. Both U15 teams games falling foul of the weather as pitches were unplayable. Both under 11 sides were unlucky but showed that they are still learning by playing some great football and need not worry about winning or losing just yet, the enjoyment of playing is what these lads thrive upon each weekend.

Div 4 - Tramore 0-1 Bohs

The lads were finally beaten on Saturday last against a very good bohs side. They still find themselves at the top of the league but will now need to ensure that they can get back to winning ways next time out.

Div 3 - Tramore 3-2 Seaview

This was a game hottly anticipated by both sides as they both knew a win would put either team clear at the top. We did take the lead through Lee Murray when he got on the end of a David Howlett corner and further extended that lead before half time when John Kelly smashed home a strike from distance after good pressure from the team to win the ball back. After half time we took a 3-0 lead when Dean Noblett scored but from then on in it was all Seaview and credit must go to them for almost securing a great fightback. In the end they just fell short after our job was made harder when Brendan Kelly mistimed a tackle and saw red.

U18 FAI cup - Tramore 5-3 Gorey Celtic

This was a great contest played by two sides who at times played some very attractive football. We found ourselves 2-0 down after 5 minutes but credit to the players they never once felt that the game was beyond them. A great hat trick from striker in form Jamie Hunt and a brace from Stephen Coffey put us 5-2 ahead however a David Kennedy own goal gave the away side small hope. Liam O'Farrell and Aaron Coad putting in some great shifts for the team. Squad: Aidan Martin, Sam Lenihan, Adam Dunne, Ryan Daniels, Ben McLoughlin, Chris Gormley, David Kennedy, Stephen Coffey, Aaron Coad, Jamie Hunt, Liam O'Farrell, Mischac Babatu, Sammi Ogayami, Liam Coonagh, Stephen Lenihan, Matthew Connor.

Ladies Wexford Premier Div - Tramore 6-2 Benfica

Another win for our ladies side making it 100% so far this season in all their games played. After going two down the ladies could have easily folded but thats not in their mentality and fought back hitting 6 goals in the process. Well done ladies keep up the good work.

Club AGM

Tramore AFC will host its AGM this Thursday (November 3rd) at 7:45pm. This will take place in Graun Park and all members of the club are invited.

Bank Holiday Weekend Preview

Plenty going on this weekend for teams of Tramore AFC. Being a bank holiday there are games on saturday, sunday and monday. On the junior side our 4th Division host Bohs on saturday afternoon at 2pm and our 3rd Division host Seaview in a top of the table clash sunday morning at 11am. This should be an entertaining game being looked forward to by both sides. On Sunday afternoon our U18 squad play in the only competition left for them this season, the FAI cup against Gorey Celtic. The game is down for a 2pm kick off. Tramore also have a host of players involved with the Oscar Traynor this weekend also. Best of luck to all the lads involved.

On the schoolboy scene there are 5 games up for decision on Saturday. Our 11B host Carrick at 11am while our U11C side travel to DLS for a 10am kick off. While our u13A game was cancelled our 13B lads host Dungarvan at 12.15 and both our U15 sides are away from home, facing DLS and Ballyduff respectively both with a 2.30pm kick off. On Bank Holiday Monday we have 3 teams in action. U12A face a tricky trip to Ferrybank with a 10.30am kick off and our under16A travel to Bohs with the venue changed to the Cork Road. Finally our 16B lads play home to villa with a 2pm kick off.

On the ladies side of the club there are fixtures for our u12,16 and senior ladies teams. Our U12 girls are at home to Portlaw at 11:45am. The U16 girls host Stradbally while our Ladies continue their impressive start to their new campaign hosting a good Benfica on Sunday morning. Best of luck to all teams this weekend and lets hope that we can record some important wins and also continue to improve our performances.

Weekend Fixtures

This weekend there are a couple of changes to our fixture line up. Our Div 4 side who were down to play under lights saturday night has been changed to Saturday at 2pm and the U13A game scheduled for 2.30 that day v DLS has now been cancelled. Other fixtures include a Div 3 rivallry versus Seaview and FAI u18 cup 2nd round.

Weekend Review

U12A - Tramore 1-1 Villa

A good draw for our lads in tough conditions on Saturday morning last. Villa brought a good supporting crowd but our lads were well worth the draw in the end and could have even taken all three points. Our goal on the day was scored by Tom Carney showing some good bravery to get on the end of a spill from the keeper.

U12B - Tramore 1-2 Porlaw

U14 - Ferrybank 3-1 Tramore

U16B - Carrick 4-0 Tramore

Three defeats for the remaining schoolboy teams on Saturday last. Over all not the best day results wise for the club but the lads will keep plugging away and no doubt be looking forward to getting out on the pitch again to show their worth.

Div 4 - Abbeyside 2-3 Tramore

Our Division 4 side had to make the early trip to Abbeyside last Sunday morning with their unbeaten run intact. This continued after a good display all over in tough conditions. 2 Thomas Hunt penalties and a John Power header saw us earn three points. We must also mention a penalty save from keeper Stuart Kennedy kept us ahead in the game although he will not have been happy with the way in which he conceded their second goal. The management team are still wondering what happened Alan Gillane when he went clean through and decided to pass to a teammate 5 yards ahead of him. The lads face the daunting task of playing under the floodlights at Graun Park this Saturday night.

Munster Junior Cup

Our premier side travelled to Kilworth on Sunday only upon arrival the match was called off by the referee. This was very disappointing for the lads as they had made the hour plus journey for a decision that maybe could have been made prior to leaving? We will now host the fixture in the coming weeks.

Wexford Ladies Premier Division - Tramore 3-0 Killenagh

Our ladies side made it 4 out of 4 with a convincing win at home in rainy conditions last Sunday. A clean sheet and three points will no doubt please the management staff and players who are putting in a great effort so far both in games and on the training pitch.

Development Trials

Well done to any player from Tramore AFC who attended Waterford development trials last weekend. We are always proud when any of our players represent our club at county level or at any other level in the game.

Railtrack

This coming Saturday all collections at our Railtrack academy will be donated to the Niall Mellon Foundation. We are privilidged to be in a position to be able to support these great charities so please give generously.

Club AGM

After a hectic summer which also consisted of our club winning FAI AVIVA club of the year the club are only now coming around to our AGM (annual general meeting). It will take place in the clubhouse on Thursday 3rd November at 7:45pm. All members are welcome.

FIFA 12 competition

Last Friday, Tramore AFC hosted its first ever playstation games night open to all. Prior to kick off we had 44 names entered. All ages and abilities signed up to play and made for a great night of entertainment at Graun Park. Early favourites such as Ben Palmer, Lee Kavanagh and Chris Gormley all fell to the wayside and the last four consisted of organiser Gary Hunt, Martin O'Sullivan, Conor Furlong and Stephen Lenihan. Two hottly contested games saw Gary and Conor contest the final. Conor could have won it but in the end it was Gary who took the title with a 1-0 win. Well done to all players that entered as it was a great night at the club. A big thanks also to Jamie Hunt, Shane Hunt, Owen Kavanagh, Eoin Flynn and Micky Condron for supplying equipment on the night.

Weekend Review

U11B - Tramore 2-2 Villa

2 goals from Luke Fitzpatrick sealed a hard earned draw for one of our under 11 squads last Saturday. Both teams played some entertaining football and credit to both sides for trying to play the game the right way.

U13A - Carrick 7-2 Tramore

A bad day at the office for these lads but the result may have been different had we kept composed in our own box, conceding 3 penalties, two of which were at vital times in the game.  Goals on the day coming from Charlie Kelly and David McCracken with great assists from Jack Furlong and Emmet Conway respectively.  Also well done to Dan Morrisey on the goal, even conceding seven goals the lad can hold his head up high after a great performance between the sticks.

U13B - Tramore 5-0 Ballyduff

A very good win here for the lads but more important is the performance and a clean sheet. These guys continue to train in large numbers each week and is no doubt paying off. Keep up the hard work lads.

U15SFAI - St Annes (Carlow) 1-0 Tramore (aet)

An early start on Saturday morning for players, coaches and parents as we set off to the other side of Carlow for a cup match versus St Annes. After coming through the previous round 1-0 we believed if we performed to our best we could return with the win, however after extra time this was not the case. Nothing could separate the teams after normal time until St Annes struck in extra time to make sure of the passage to the next round. Our journey now in the SFAI cups has finished for another season but a long league season lies ahead for the lads.

FAI Junior Cup - St Otterans 1-6 Tramore

A good win for our premier side last Saturday as we progressed to the next round of the FAI junior cup. Credit to St Otterans for making the tie hard for us but we showed some good character to produce a professional display with goals on the day coming from Chris Grace (2), Michael Downey, Michael Caulfield, Paul Drohan and Colin Walsh.

Div 4 - Tramore 1-0 Villa

After losing a point last time out the lads needed a positive result here as they face the tricky Sunday morning trip to abbeyside this coming Sunday. The game played at an 'experienced pace' was won when 'Smurf' John Murphy broke from midfield before scoring from a tight angle. Well done on the wins lads.

Div 3 - Tramore 1-0 Park Rangers

A win is a win and that is what the lads will settle for after a tough contest with Park Rangers last Sunday morning where the opposition will be disappointed to have not taken something from the game. The only goal came from the penalty spot when Dean Noblett hit the back of the net to make it 1-0. Dean was guilty of squandering a couple of second half chances but his goals this season have helped them to the position they are in. The lads held on for the win to continue their unbeaten run.

U19 - Tramore 2-3 St Josephs

For a team that is showing a lot of promise on the training ground, they just cannot seem to get it right on match day knocking up only 2 points from their opening 4 games. Having only played four games to this point is the disappointing thing as teams in other leagues have played more than double our fixtures in leagues that may not be as important for player development as this one. An own goal and a goal from David Kennedy were our only goals on the day.

Ladies Wex League - Cormacs 2-3 Tramore

Another win for the ladies side as the made it three wins from three. Goals on the day coming from Lianne Clancy, Orla Hickey and Tara Power. Well done ladies, keep up the hard work.

Club Petition

Tramore AFC would like to thank anyone who contributed to our petition which we started last Thursday night and finished at lunchtime Saturday. We gathered over 600 signatures in this time frame so a big thank you goes to all involved. The petition was for u16 player Mischac and his family.

FIFA 12 competition

This Friday the club will hold a FIFA 12 competition in the clubhouse from 6:30pm. This is a first for the club and is showing interest that may suggest that if it goes well then we may have more of these events. To enter you must have your name entered before 6pm on the Friday and you can enter with Gary Hunt or through our facebook page.

Fixture Comfirmation

Weekend Review

Under 12A - Tramore 6-1 Southend

A great win and all round performance for the lads last Saturday as they played their first game in a few weeks but did not look out of sorts one bit. This is largely down to the effort being put in each week at training. Goalscorers on the day were Lee Kavanagh (2), Jack Larkin (2), Tom Carney & Daryll Murphy.

Under 14 - Carrick 2-2 Tramore

This squad of players are making steady improvement with every game they play. After a great win in their las
