Club Notes 30/04/2010
Tramore 2 0 Ferrybank
A great result against the league leaders on Thursday night with goals from Niall Kennedy and Aaron Coad in the first half. A good all round team performance with a marked improvement on recent matches to put us back in contention for league honours.
We started brightly and scored after 10 minutes direct from a corner by Niall Kennedy. We continued to dominate with and were rewarded with a fine header by Aaron Coad from another corner by Kendo. Only bad luck and some wayward finishing kept the scoreline at 2 nil at halftime.
Ferrybank started brighter in the 2nd half but never troubled our back four and only managed 1 strike on target in the 2nd half that Matthew dealt comfortably with. Time and time again we opened up the Ferrybank defence with good accurate passing only for us to fail to take any of the chances we created.
We ran out comfortable winners in the end and can now go into the last 3 games with confidence in our play. Impressive individual performances from Meshac, Jack Douglas and Ryan Costello with Gearoid Hanratty playing a captains role and just shading the man of the match award
Munster Senior Cup
Waterford United 3 Tramore 2
This was a very determined and indeed impressive effort by Tramore when we played Waterford in the RSC last Tuesday night. Despite conceding an early goal we kept playing football the right way and many who have not seen Tramore in action on a regular basis were very impressed by the range of passing and fitness levels on display.
This was an historic night for the club but unfortunately we just couldn't do enough to beat the League of Ireland outfit.
Many thanks to all our supporters who made the trip in on the night and whilst there were many worth mention, it was particularly great to see Willie Moran in the RSC cheering on the club that owes him so much thanks and gratitude.
Ladies and Gentlemen:
Johville 0 Tramore 4
Our senior ladies produced an excellent performance away to Johnville last week. Their efforts in pre-season are really showing and it is great to see a team playing with such commitment and energy.
Club Draw
All managers are reminded to collect their tickets before Wednesday (as some didn't collect them at the weekend as asked) - all tickets need to be returned to Stuart within a week. We will be announcing full details of this draw to the public over the coming weeks and are looking forward to the continued support of our members and friends. Posters are on display in the clubhouse and will be on display around the town this week. If anyone requires details of the draw please speak with any committee member.
Club Notes 28th March 2010
St Patricks Day Parade
We had a fantastic turnout for the parade last week and the club would like to thank all the parents and kids for attending in such large numbers. Everyone seemed to enjoy the experience and a lot of the kids were hoarse from shouting by the time the parade finished.
Railtrack News
On Saturday 20th , in association with our Tesco sponsors, we had Paul McCarthy, Gary Dunphy and Kevins Burns from Waterford United to coach with our Railtrack Academy. All involved had a great time and we would like to thank Waterford United for their involvement. The feedback from the kids and their parents was fantastic and it was great to see some of our local heroes giving up their free time to the younger up and coming stars - hopefully some will follow in their footsteps and go on to play for The Blues.
Good Friday Soccerthon
All managers are reminded to ensure that all players have been given their sponsorship cards for our annual Good Friday Soccerthon. It is crucial that this annual fundraising event is supported by all club members and we would ask that everyone makes a concerted effort to attend on the day. We would also like to thank all those who support our fundraising efforts-without your support we would not be able to offer the kids such top class facilities.
Under 13A
Bohs 1 Tramore 0
This was our first league game since the first weekend in November and in truth both teams played well below par. We can have no complaints with the result as we didn't do enough to score in a poor performance. This is a league which is there for the taking and other results went in our favour so with a determined effort from all we could push on in with only 5 games remaining.
Under 11A
Bohs 2 Tramore 1
Our under 11 managers were very happy with the performance and attitude on show o Saturday morning and we were unlucky not to come away with a share of the spoils.
Division 1B
Ballinroad 0 Tramore 2
A terrific result in Ballinroad has put us in a dominating position as this league draws to a close. Goals from David Purcell, who has really impressed since his return from what looked a serious injury earlier in the year, and William Cullinane were enough to give us 3 crucial points in this game.
Easter Camp
The dates for our Easter Camp have been changed, and the camp will now be held from Tuesday 30th March-Thurs 1st April inclusive - full details are available on our club website www.tramoreafc.com. Due to the weather forecast for the 3 days we would ask that all participants are dressed accordingly, with tracksuits and jackets being the order of the day.
As the camp runs for these 3 days and is then followed by the Soccerthon on Good Friday there will be no Railtrack on Saturday 3rd April.
Munster Senior Cup
We travel to Clonmel on Easter Sunday in the Munster Senior Cup - Kick off time to be confirmed - please see website for details and we ask all supports to come along to support us in this game.
Club Notes 27th September 2009
FAI Junior Cup
Tramore 2 Ferrybank 0
Despite being depleted by injury we put in a fine performance to defeat Ferrybank by a 2 goals to 0 scoreline. Christopher Grace, playing his first game of the season, showed great enthusiasm and running throughout and deservedly got our first goal with a strong header from a Leigh Quilty corner.
The roles were reversed shortly afterwards when, following a powerful run, delivered the perfect cross for Leigh to convert making the tie secure.
Under 14A League
Tramore 3 Seaview 1
Our under 14 team put in a great performance against very physical opposition and deservedly ran out winners in this game.
We try to play a brand of football that is both skilful and exciting to watch and this prevailed in this tie.
Niall Kennedy opened the scoring with an absolute belter of a left foot volley which gave the visiting keeper no chance. Meschac Babatu, who was on the receiving end of a number of very physical challenges, answered in the best way possible with a superb brace to ensure we got maximum points from the game.
Tramore 3 Villa 4
All observers agreed that this was a cracking schoolboy game. We felt very aggrieved not to have at least secured a draw in this game but unfortunately didn't get the rub of the green when needed. We went 2 down before Jamie Hunt split the defense with a pin point cross field pass to Luke Furlong who slotted home well to leave us a single goal behind at half time. We conceded early in the second half but to the lads credit they pushed on and levelled with 2 goals from Jamie Hunt who is playing some of the best football of his career.
Rather than settle for a draw having been behind for much of the game we pushed on and were unlucky too concede late in the game and run out narrow losers.
The efforts and abilities demonstrated by the boys was wonderful to watch and if they continue to play such positive football are sure to have a successful campaign.
Under 13 League
Tramore 2 Villa 1
This was the first game of the season for our under 13 squad and despite having lost a number of key players from last year got off to the perfect start with a solid victory.
From 1 to 11 everyone was outstanding wish Meschac and Koffi getting our goals. Matthew Connor had a fine game and if his form continues should develop into an excellent goalkeeper. He saved a crucial penalty to keep us ahead in the game.
Whilst difficult to highlight any player both Aaron Coad and Niall Kennedy deserve mention for their outstanding efforts. Niall in particular has by all accounts his most impressive game in a white shirt.
Under 12B
Tramore 4 Johnville 2
Goalscorers not to hand

Club Notes 6th September 2009
Premier League
Tramore 0 Carrick United 4
Missing a number of key players this was a very tight game for the first 30 minutes but unfortunately the pattern of the game changed when we were reduced to 10 men with the sending off of Dayne Ormonde. Our cause wasn't helped when we were further reduced with a second half red card for Colin Walsh.
Division 1
St Otterans 2 Tramore 2
Ian Ryan and Gary Hunt were our goalscorers and ensured that our unbeaten start to the league continues.
Youth League
Tramore 5 Johnville 1
The lads bounced back from their defeat to Ferrybank last week with goals from Gary O'Shea 2, David Purcell, Gavin Duffy and David Sullivan.
Under 16
Dungarvan 0 Tramore 2
Goalscorers were Eoin Kiely who had a terrific game and John Heffernan.
Under 14
De La Salle 6 Tramore 1
We learnt a harsh lesson in finishing on Saturday morning against a very strong De la Salle team. Our sole scorer in the game was Jamie Hunt who continues to impress every time he dons a white shirt. Our gameplan was upset when Aaron Coad withdrew before the start of the game with injury which meant a reshuffle of the pack and unfortunately we just didn't settle quickly enough. There were some positives from this game and there is no doubt that we will learn from it.
Under 12 A
Ferrybank 1 Tramore 2
Season opener saw a very workman like performance from this young side. A composed finished by Koffi on 15 minutes gave us the lead only to be tagged back just before half time by a clever lob from the Ferrybank striker. The winner was a stunning shot from outside the box from Jack Murphy. With better luck & more clinical finishing we should have added 2 or 3 more with both Alan Curran & Koffi hitting the post & Ryan Flavin inches from connecting to suberb cross from Jack Douglas Jason Wilmott & David McCracken had chances saved late on but we had our keeper Matt Connors to thank for a double save in the last minute to give us all 3 points. Well done to all.
Under 12B
The 12 B started 5th September with an away trip to Ferrybank where Tramore had a hard fought 1 - 0 win, Oisin Lonergan scoring the only goal with a great chip over the keeper from an acute angle. This was a great team performance with the defence well organised by team captain Shane Rellis.
The new players to the squad, John Power, Jack Widger, Paddy Dalton and Neil McLoughlin fitted in well and brought some much needed support to the sideline! The squad lineout was ; Liam Hayes, John Carberry, Liam Fitgerald, Shane Rellis, Seanie Martin, Morgan Lohan, Adrian Browne, Jack Widger, Conor Buckley, Eric Gabaya, Oisin Lonergan, John K. Power, Neil McLoughlin, Nathan Harrington, John McCarthy and Paddy Dalton.
Railtrack
Railtrack commences this Saturday with times as follows - Age 8 & 9 from 9.15 to 10.15, age 5, 6 & 7 from 10.30 to 11.30.

Further registration will take place next Saturday and remember your child must be registered before play. We continue to look for assistants and would like to thank those who have already offered their services.
As neither Paul nor Stuart will be there for the next 2 Saturdays please go to any of the coaching staff in attendance and they will get you involved.
Best Wishes
We have never witnessed a season like this in terms of serious injury. The club would like to wish a speedy recovery to Craig Maher, Keith Ridguard and Nigel Coad, all of whom suffered very serious injuries playing for Tramore over the weekend.
It does however serve to remind us of the importance of ensuring that all our players are covered by the clubs insurance scheme - any player who has yet to pay his sub may not be covered and it is essential that all outstanding subs are paid this week.
Club Gear
Available now to order - contact Stuart before Monday with your requirements.

Club Notes 30th August 2009
Premier League
Tramore 3 Southend 1
This was a game full of incident and Tramore were delighted to run out deserving winners with our goals coming from Sean Browne, Micheal Downey and Colin Walsh.
Waterford Crystal 3 Tramore 3
Our premier goalkeeper Brian Power suffered a horrific broken arm in this match and all at the club wish him a speedy recovery. Our goalscorers were Leigh Quilty, Micheal Downey and Robbie Phelan. At the death our reserve keeper Mark O'Reilly pulled off a world class save to keep the scores level.
Division 1
Tramore 7 Ballinroad 0
After a tight and difficult first half, we played with conditions assisting us in the second half. It was always going to be important to get the first goal and what a goal it was, coming from the boot of Gary Hunt early into the second half. This goal settled us and we ran out convincing winners. Goalscorers were Gary Hunt (2), Nigel Coad, Thomas Ryan, David Sheridan and an own goal (one scorer missing - sorry).
Youth League
Ferrybank 2 Tramore 1
Gary O'Shea was our sole scorer in this game.

Under 13 League
Bohs 0 Tramore 0
Following a hugely disappointing cup performance in our previous game, this squad showed great strength and determination in this fixture. We started the game well and more than competed with a strong Bohs side.
We looked comfortable all over the pitch with our back four looking very solid and Aaron Coad putting in a man of the match performance in midfield. With Jamie Hunt working hard on the left and both Niall Kennedy and Mishak Babatu pressing the Bohs defence at every opportunity we were arguably the better side in a tight game.
Under 11A Cup
Tramore 2 Villa 1
The top two teams in the league played out a very entertaining cup semi final and Tramore came out on top by the narrowest of margins.
There was a large crowd present and the teams certainly weren't overawed by the occasion.
This was always going to be a tight game but we got off to a great start with two early goals scored by Alan Curran who looked dangerous every time he was in possession.
Whilst Villa deserved a goal in the first half the nature of its concession was very disappointing from our point of view when we failed to clear following a top class save from Matthew Connor. Villa got possession of the ball and earned a penalty which they converted.
The second half was delicately balanced with Tramore defending well and hitting Villa on the break several times. The referee played lengthy injury time and the final whistle was greeted by great joy from the home side and its supporters.
The cup final in on this Saturday in the RSC with a 10.30 kick-off. We hope that a large crowd will travel to support the boys in this game.
Division 1 Cup
Tramore 8 Crusaders 0
We put in one of our most impressive displays of our long season with our finishing at times being nothing short of sensational. Colin Walsh was involved in almost everything that we created and scored two goals directly from corner kicks. We now travel to Grannagh in the next round.
Premier League Playoff
Tramore and Carrick United meet on Sunday in the premier league playoff. Kick off is 3pm at Ozier Park. We are sure that there will be a large crowd present and are calling on everyone in Tramore to get out to support us in this huge fixture. We have played superb football all season and having finished level on points with Carrick we are looking forward to this fixture. Please come along and support the Seagulls.
